About me

I'm Marta Liébana Martínez (MLM), a Spanish illustrator based in Amsterdam.

Through my WOMENATORS, I give voice to women who don’t feel represented by fashion, advertising, or societal norms. They reclaim empowerment, pleasure, anxiety — everything that's often hidden away. They dream of a world without borders or judgment, filled with strength, sensuality, and self-love.

I mainly work digitally, but I also love experimenting with traditional techniques like watercolor, ink, and colored pencils. Living in an international community has broadened my perspective and helped me develop a visual sensitivity that connects across cultures.

Alongside illustration, I’m also a professional pianist. I teach at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and spent over 15 years working in the opera world — surrounded by divas, drama, and pure emotion. That intense, theatrical energy finds its way into my drawings too, where the body, emotion, and stage presence take center stage.
